Alaina L. Sylvester

Senior Associate Attorney

Alaina’s practice is informed by a wealth of knowledge in the areas of estate planning, tax planning, asset protection, trust administration and probate. Prior to joining Cross Law Group, Alaina administrated numerous diverse trusts varying in complexity and purpose with a local trust company. The trusts under her administration included different types of asset protection trusts, tax deferred trusts, special need trusts, spendthrift trusts, various types of charitable trusts, as well as an assortment of other specialized trusts. She really enjoyed leveraging relationships in this role and aiding clients in putting together a cohesive and unified planning team resulting in robust and multifaceted tax and estate planning strategies. Prior to that, Alaina’s practice focused on estate planning in California particularly with business, succession and exit strategies for California business owners. Alaina also previously served as Vice President of Legal Administration for a mid-size company supervising aspects of finance, employee relations, contracting and business development.

Alaina earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California in 2004, cum laude, and graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law with both her Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Masters of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.). Alaina is a member of both the California and Nevada State Bars. She is a certified mediator, member of the Washoe County Bar Association, the Probate Bar Association of Washoe County and the current president of Seniors in Service, a local non-profit organization. In her personal life, Alaina enjoys spending time with her family, camping, gardening, and is an avid college football and basketball fan.

Alaina has a broad range of experience in estate planning and trust administration, including:

  • Drafting revocable living trusts for married couples and single individuals
  • Addressing issues related to blended families in estate planning
  • Reviewing and updating California trusts to Nevada law
  • Drafting disclaimer trusts for estates with values in excess of $5 million
  • Administering asset protection trusts, special needs trusts, and various types of charitable trusts
