About Us

It’s a cruel world out there. And we can relate because we’ve felt the stress of worrying about our future and the future of our loved ones, just like you. We work with families to help them regain their peace of mind and overcome the issues that are causing them to stress and worry. And we provide the kind of personalized and thoughtful legal representation that makes us feel like part of the family, not just a lawyer.

We got into the practice of law because helping people is our passion. And we strongly believe that we can help you.

San Diego, California, in 2012, a young attorney named Tyson Cross had a big idea: create a law firm that restores the personal nature of the attorney-client relationship. By scaling back and focusing on fewer clients, the firm could build personal relationships with its clients, understand their needs, and provide solutions that not only solve the problem at hand, but help them achieve their long term personal, professional, and financial goals.

In 2014, Tyson Cross made this idea a reality. After moving back to his home town of Reno, Nevada, Tyson opened Cross Law. Built on his deeply held beliefs about lawyers and the practice of law, we are a different kind of law firm. You’ll find that our approach to the practice of law is very personal. We interact directly with clients and remove the formality that is common in most law firms. We are proud to count many of our clients as friends and maintain relationships long after the legal issue has been resolved.

Although fairly new, the firm has already established a tremendous track record of success for its clients and earned the respect of the Reno legal community.  We were awarded “Client’s Choice” for all three of our practice areas by Avvo.com, as well as the prestigious “Legal Elite” award from Nevada Business.

As the founder of Cross Law, Tyson practices exclusively in the areas of tax, estate planning, and probate. Licensed to practice law in both California and Nevada, Tyson has helped clients in both states with complex trust planning, business entity formations, and tax reduction strategies. He has also represented clients in all types of tax litigation and tax controversies before the Internal Revenue Service, Nevada Department of Taxation, and California Franchise Tax Board.

Prior to entering private practice, Tyson earned a Masters of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) from New York University School of Law, the nation’s highest ranked and most prestigious tax law program. Tyson graduated law school near the top of his class from the Boyd School of Law at UNLV, where he was an editor of the Gaming Law Journal and president of the Nevada Justice Association. While in law school, Tyson was given the CALI Award for Excellence in estate planning, real estate transactional drafting, and property law. Tyson holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Nevada, Reno and graduated from Bishop Manogue High School.

Personal & Community Involvement

When not practicing law, Tyson enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids. He also enjoys playing basketball and spending time outdoors. Tyson and his family actively attend Life Church in Reno, NV. Tyson also serves as a Trustee for the Community Foundation of Western Nevada, where he serves on the executive committee.
